Dear Addictlab members, you have been with me for the last 17 years. I was proud to be able to publish your great creative talent, exhibit you in Milan, New York, Tokyo, or Johannesburg, invite you to brainstorm sessions in Belgium, Geneva or New Zealand and generate out of the box ideas on so many subjects.
One day, I should write down the stories of all the amazing people I ran into. You were more than 4500 people on the database, having uploaded over 10.000 concepts, published in over 30 books or magazines, and worked on about 200 projects. Our first Addictlab products are being produced as we speak.
What if we could share that knowledge and experience of collaboration, lab culture and cocreation? What if other organisations, companies, governments could use similar tools to create a community, profile its members, look at external resources and invite all of them to cocreate and inovate?
So I looked at Addictlab as a whole, from the communities we gathered, the Open Labs we organised, the brainstorm tools we have created through the years. And I distilled a "software" concept that should allow third parties to do the same.
Hence I'm proud to present you
YourOwnLab: a multiplatform "software" concept, delivering a lab culture methodology and diverse tools for organizations and companies that are looking for innovation, building communities and continuosly thinking out of the box.
After months (or I believe it's been over two years, to be honest) you can register on the YourOwnLab app (soon on the app store) and profile and present yourself. You can link yourself to physical locations if you wish to -you'd want to read about the Creative Ring - and select the creative disciplines you master as a professional or you’re interested in since it's your personnal passion. You’ll be able to join 'labs' : generic research labs on diverse topics, or confidential labs for
companies. And be rewarded for your ideas in the process. You’ll be able to set up your own lab with a cost depending on the resources, duration and YourOwnLab involvment.
And Addictlab? Everyone registering on YourOwnLab can still choose to be part of the Addictlab 'cloud' community, where we keep working on our own generic researchs, publications and exhibitions, even more aiming towards sustainable change.
If you like to join me in this new exciting project, please download the YourOwnLab app from the app store, upload your work, and join our labs!
At the Creativity World Forum, YourOwnLab was asked to set up its offices and apply its lab methodology to work on a number of challenges given by the Forum's audience. These 'labs' ranged from thinking about the future of cinema, helping a number of entrepreneurs with their business plan or innovation funnel, and conceptualise ideas using state of the art technology by university spinoffs in the Nano4Health project. All labs are in the process of receiving a lab paper stating all the ideas, thoughts, inspiration generated by the YOLA team and people from the CWF audience who participated in dedicated brain storm sessions.
The Creative Ring (www.creativering.eu) is a European project to link physical locations - the so called creative hubs - and create a growing creative community
Managers of the hubs of Barcelona, Brussels, Trento, aswell as new hub applicants can start trying out their local lab now.
You know you should innovate, yet do not have the resources?
You believe a lab culture is of utmost importance for your organisation but you have no clue?
Fill in the lab briefing document and we'll get back to you in view of methodology, community, deliverables and the necessary budget you’d need to invest.
And it's labs for all: prices range from 500€ to, well, more.
